1) How much times do you spend managing the page?

Well, it depends on how much stuff I need to update within particular time period. No time is spent on actual managing part; however, time it takes for content creation can vary from half an hour for blog posting to weeks on applying a new theme. So, to break down according to routinely updates I make.
* Blog: 2-3 posts per week, yielding approximately 6 hours/month
* Photo albums: 3-4 pages per month, 4 hours/month
* Wiki: depends on development/learning events being taken, ~10 hours/month
* Et cetera: such as site restructuring, application package upgrade, new features addition, ~5 hours/month.
So, that comes out to be roughly 25 hours per month.

2) Can I manage the my page effectively as you do yours with any programming experience except VBA?

As you could refer from the INFO page, my website is driven by four different services: wordpress, mediawiki, iWeb and google apps. The pages on this website are largely comprised of HTML, CSS and PHP. These are all fairly simple languages, and most of the time, you won’t need any knowledge in programming experience. But if you wish to apply some unique looks or features to your site, and utility is not the only thing that matters, general programming knowledge definitely will save you some time.

3) Would you be open to guiding me through setting up a similar page for myself and working me through a maintenance tutorial that may be necessary?

It took me three years to get me this far, and even if I were to replicate a site looking just like this, I believe it is not something that can be done within a month or so. Going back to your question, I would be happy to share any beneficial information if you make a suggestion in regards to an information as a visitor of this site. However, if the question pertains to your own matter, I am sorry I cannot help you on that part.

4) How much does it cost you annually to maintained the page?

* Domain(GoDaddy): $8/year
* Hosting(GoDaddy): $5/month

* Design/Programming labor: priceless
Annual expense: approximately 68 USD a year.

Since it opened up in 2007, the site has gone through series of major reconstructions. Looking back from now, I think it was mostly because my intentions had changed over time and it took me some time to figure out what sort of contents I want to put up on my site and how to sort them out. So, if anyone plans on creating a site looking like this, I would suggest, first think about your goals, what sort of information or media you will be providing, and have a list of sections sorted out, in order of importance, before getting started on anything. For example, blog and wiki are similar in function, that they serve to create simple pages. Not everyone necessarily needs to setup a wiki unless one has massive text data which need to be edited constantly.

So, that is pretty much all I have to say for now. Feel free to get back to me for simple questions or general consulting on this matter.

iPhone, unlocked at last

With the return of jailbreakme yesterday, I have finally managed to turn my iPhone into a device more compatible with local service providers. No longer should I pay for expensive roaming rate nor I would have to carry around another device for local calls. As a beginner first exposed to such task, I was indeed amazed in respect to how simple the whole process was.

Taking into account that I was actually in charge of preventing this sort of maneuver for another mobile manufacturer two years ago, it’s an irony. But As Apple seems to desire its products to be compatible with all the cellular service providers around the globe, and now that both carrier unlocking and jailbreaking are permitted as legitimate, I hope this marks another date for a change for which people no longer have to purchase another device for use in countries outside they reside.

새로운 탈옥툴의 개봉과 함께 더이상 두개의 핸드폰을 들고다니지않아도 되게되었다. 좀더 시간이 걸릴것이라고 생각했지만 이렇게 빠른 대응과 훨신 간편해진 方法에 한번 더 놀랐다. 아무턴 내일부터는 아이폰으로 모든 통화가 가능해짐에따라 연락처 관리도 자유로워지고 다른나라에가서도 로밍걱정이 없어질듯~

Just like all other short trips I had experienced, a day at a new city, more like spending merely an afternoon is not enough to get friendly to a new city, leaving as the same stranger. Was I destined to come to this interesting city in wales on this particular day? While I find myself in regards to matter of fate quite often lately, maybe I was indeed bound to be lead to a train reaching Cardiff, while it, which departed a minute after I boarded, was on the only platform which did not have ticket check counter.
Nevertheless, the next, more important would be why I came here. I certainly needed to get away from the metropolis, work, tension and anxiety of setting my foot in the new society which seems to not welcome me at the moment. But everything that is here is all in London anyway. What is it particular that I needed to be here a thus moment. Need it to accompanied by a specific sign such as a hot blonde asking me to spend a night with her or a generous businessman who offers me a job back in London? As always, the true value of traveling will not realized until one returns home and continues his or her routinely cycle. At last, I was able to enjoy a peaceful afternoon, not thinking about anything. So, let me try to make the best out of the remaining time i have here by completing my post here.

Finally, passed the long-waited level II. This certainly is a refreshing and unexpected news, to whom to some extent lately lost enthusiasm, ended up in boredom. Anyway, as I have not much time to finish the posting now, I will continue writing on this some other time.

Where will this road lead to?

Now that I have gotten myself a nice cozy flat, the only thing left to do is to get a job or bread? If anyone comes looking for a new living in London, let me give out a sequence of to-do’s which I think could have been more appropriate.

1. Get a mobile: getting a cheap mobile phone which enables one to top up, that is pay as you go is fairly convenient, more than perhaps any other cities around the world. Just go to any of the mobile service providers(e.g. Vodafone, O2, Orange, T-mobile, 3, Tesco, et cetera), and ask for pay as you go. In fact, one could get one for as cheap as £20 pounds for a phone, sim card and enough calling credit, all inclusive.

2. Look for a flat. There are namely few popular sites for this purpose as the following:
* Gumtree
* Craigslist
* Homes & Property
* Moveflat
* Zoopla
* PropertyLive
* Outlet.co.uk
Simply need to call each one and continue looking til you find the one you want.

3. Opening a bank account. Let’s see. Probably the ones with most branches around the city are Barclays, HSBC, Santander, Lloyds TSB, NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland, so on. If you just arrived and urgently need an account, my best recommendation would be bring the original copy of your bank statement from back home, must be written in English of course, and take your passport along with. From my own experience, Barclays has been most generous to expats amongst.

4. Obtain a National insurance number. Details are all listed. Either you can apply for yourself, or pay these guys  at 1st contact to ease the task

5. Getting a job. This, which I am still working on at the moment, I cannot conclude at the moment which worked best or ended up being useless. However, if I don’t forget, I can always update my postings, so for now, I will provide a list of job sites, recruitment agencies, with brief notes.

So, this is where it all begins. My new spacious flat, located in the West End district, right on the intersection of George Street and Edgware Road. Two weeks of continuous searching and restless flat viewing eventually lead me to this lovely flat, turning into what is worth a time and effort. To anyone knowledgeable in ethnic distribution of London, this is rather a quite interesting area to see, contrary to popular belief of being a posh part of the town, Edgware Road turns out to be a home to variety of ethnic groups of Middle East and Northern Africa. Full of Moroccan or Lebanese cuisines, locals lined up along the street lines enjoying their hookah, giving one a doubt whether he or she is indeed in London or Beirut. Nonetheless, nothing matters besides the fact that I really came to love this town for providing exposure to variety of cultures and its great proximity to any other major places of the town. Each day, surprisingly more and more, I find myself more attracted to this mysterious city.

What in the world is going to happen in this unwelcoming city full of refusals? Why am I still on tasks which should have been resolved by the past week? Prior to facing series of refusals, had I got myself into a misconception of which I can just come and settle down as if I had always lived here? Not so fast, the Parliament is on its own burden.
One recruiter I had met in Japan had once advised me, figure out which way ought to move towards, and eagerly pursue the path. Yet still lost in wonder, what am I about to set my footstep on? At this present moment, my goal perhaps merely lies on settling in a place of own preference, possibly sustain my condition of living to the minimum. Would that truly be the only intention of coming this far, anxiously relying on a piece of sticker on my passport page which has no value when it comes to immediate burden of starting a living? Even in this intended reflection posting, yet I endlessly continue to question myself rather than setting agenda for myself. Another day with fully exhausted body and not much outcome. Let’s take one step at a time says one mind, but not much time for fooling around, says the other. In this city where perhaps only one task a day is meant to be accomplished, there are now 14 working hours remaining in this week, marking the point from which time allocation need be ever more critical.

오늘은 조금sentimental한게 한글로しゃべりたいかな。

하나의 인격체로서 타락은 어디까지인가. 3개월전 집을 떠났을당시 동경에 첫발짝을 디딜때의 불평은 지금으로선 꿈같은 바램일뿐. 그후, 혼자쓰던방을 둘이쓰게되고, 외각으로나가면서 교통의불편함, 지금은 오를때로 오른 물가, 매끼니 맛없는 식사, 오래된 건물의 불편한 샤워까지, 표면적으론 삶의 짓은 계속 내려가고만있는듯하다.

여러분은 Candide라는 작품이 과연 optimism을 풍자하기만을 위한 목적이였다고 생각하는가. 책을 완성하면서 Voltaire 스스로도 조금은 envy가 있었다고 나는 생각한다. 환경에 적응하여 자기자신을 만족하게 만드는것도 하나의 인간의 능력이기때문에.

아직도 사회밑바닥까지 내려가기까지는 한참 남을것인가. 매 끼니가 금전적으로 부담되는 상황에도 나누어준 음식을 감사히 먹고있는 옆에 집시여인도있다. 런던에 도착한지 4일째. 금요일저녁이되어 나의 첫주도 이렇게 마감하려하고있다. 별 성과없이 지나간 며칠이였지만 모르는새에 많은걸 얻었다고본다. 좀더 기본적인 그리고 필수적인 인간의 삶의 방법을 이런저런 위기를 극복하며 배우고있음을. 한가한 오후, 공원서 Pablo Coelho의 신작을 읽으며 보내는 지금의 나날들은 충분히 나를 기본으로 되돌리고있다.

이 도시가 점점 좋아지고있다. 기숙사를 연장하여 일주일이라는시간을 벌었다. 어제까지의 초조함은 버리고 차분하게 준비하며 지금의 하루하루를 즐길필요가있다. 아직 열흘간은 잘 곳과 밥먹을 현금은 있으니깐. 그럼 안도의 숨을 크게 들이키고 앞에 매혹적인 눈빛을 향해, hola~ ¿como esta?

Making harder for an expat to penetrate into does not only apply to the infamous closed society of Japan, I realize. For any countries, welcoming a stranger certainly contributes to an exposure to possible social threat. For an expat without a single record of credit history, it surely is a long way to go in order to earn trust and respect. Whatever I was or have done outside become irrelevant. Not until one realizes that, no way his or her expectations are to be met.

I first arrived with hopes of finding a flat within a week, then proceed to a job search while sustaining myself with few part time jobs; however, seem to have ran into a paradox of deadlock already. In a situation where I need a full-time job in order to provide assurance for the landlord, while I was indeed seeking some sort of comfortless before proceeding to another job hunt season. So, what choice do I have other than to cope with the reality? My answer is to reverse the order. Here is the order of immediate To-do’s for my eagerly wanted settlement plan.
1. Negotiate with the landlord for overseas guarantee
2. Submit massive job applications
3. Allow myself more time in current residence

Nonetheless, I look back, it is such a positive outcome that I already have found a place I want at a decent price. Let me make it happen quickly so that I can soon provide a detailed coverage on that flat.

The world is quickly merging into one huge society, yet it is always surprising how wide a gap one has to overcome is. In efforts to integrate self into the Japanese society, few of he habits I made myself do seems to have deeply immersed me into Japanese way, perhaps more than I ever were with Korean or American.
So what now, once in Londinium, follow the Londoner way. Before I let the city shape my transformed image, list of what to change and retain, I’d be better off with it defined prior to.

What to retain:

• Politeness and sense of optimism towards hardships
• Good citizenship
• Willingness to accept the local way

What to abandon:

• Japanese language usage, as I realize I had got into habit of thinking in Japanese.
• Smoking, due to conservative spending practice though being able to smoke while walking on the street rocks.
• A sense of/making excuses for being an outsider/foreigner

What am I trying to achieve in this highly inflated city which emits no single sign of welcoming. Searching for an answer without knowing what the question is, another journey slowly begins.

It is 9pm, yet no sign of darkness at all, walking through the crowd on the street, observing diversity of ethnic groups I had not been in contact with for awhile.
It is all gonna be fine and very interesting one, need I say that to myself once more?

カフェ서 試験準備를 마저 끝내고 가려던 찰나에 바로앞에 앉은 チョかわいな女性을 보고 東京에서 一番좋아하는 동네중 하나가 된 아카사카. 아.. 아마도 여기서 시작되었을것이다. 日本女를 만나고싶다는 생각, ナンパ를 해야겠다는 決断. 몇千万이 넘는 人口가 살고있는 이 거대한 都市에서 彼女를 만날確率는 0에 가깜다만, 다시는 이런기회를 놓치지않기위해 自身을 準備시키겠다고.

I try to keep my site as simple as possible. Anything not likely to be clicked by both visitors and myself are, not only distracting, but also waste of space and transfer packet data likely deter time to load, especially for growing access from cellular network.

To further discussion on design tradeoffs and my specific case study, in my experience, a blog visitor, for the most time, takes one of the following two actions.
1. Find a solution to what he/she was looking for, and close the tab within 30 seconds
2. Get immersed in writing style, checks out few other related postings, and starts to get curious about identity of the author.

In both cases, the visitor certainly needs merely about some informative text and relevant illustrations. So those are core must-have’s. For the second case, the visitor needs to be provided with links to other postings within the same categories, or other page links which serves more importance to the content owner. According to Google analytics data, average number of page viewed is barely over 2, with an upward bias factor by counting in a guy who constantly does link maintenance; therefore, I will maintain anything other than post contents to the minimum, by
1. Removing the sidebar, (as this requires an extra “zoom in double-touch” for mobile users)
2. Limit category links to a single line, right below the global menu bar
3. A single link item for maintenance

So, finally getting into the original purpose of the posting, the site admin needs basically two links for posting/maintenance. “Log in” and “site admin” But wait a minute, one would never need those at the same time. One needs to “log in” in order to administrate, and once logged in, no need for a “log in” or out button, who actually logs out a blog explicitly… So my solution is to combine them:
* When logged out, display “Log In”
* When logged in, display “Site Admin”

Observations:
* Each meal served by the restaurants would hardly exceed daily recommended calorie intake when multiplied by factor of 3. Moreover, for a person like myself, who seems to consume extra energy each day certainly needs to intake more.
* Sleep deprivation, or a screwed up daily cycle leads to more adverse symptoms of weight loss as a result of skipping a meal, as I end up enduring my hunger after midnight.
* Everyday, I find myself wasting about an hour cumulative trying to decide where and what to eat.
* I wake up without any daily routine or planned activities, which deters from doing anything within an hour upon waking up.

Action items:
* Have 4 meals a day

自分のために頑張ろう〜

First, in regards to my current language curriculum,
* No matter how much you get affluent with a certain language, it means nothing if you are not going to use it, for I am scrutinizing my habits as well as likely conversations I would have in ideal situations.
* Today, I was at 300 bar in Ginza. I ended up talking to few random people, discussing various subjects. Though sometimes it feels like drinking for pleasure end up turning into another Japanese conversation lesson, I am learning(practicing) and enjoying at the same time. How better could it be? So, hoping for a better drinking bar experience the next time, I would concentrate on specific phrases and topics I had experienced tonight. Those are: explaining my long story of how I got here, my upcoming plans, jobs I am looking into. Few other general conversational topics have been touched including: World economy and relative Japanese economic condition, Japanese tourists in Korea, fun things to do around, and the golden week what did you do kinda stuff. Finally, few questions that always comes up are in regards to my relationship status, family whereabouts, et cetera. Just like, preparing for job interviews, I feel it will be more effective to prepare a some sort of script template so that I can concentrate on attaining 95% comprehension while being prepared for 100% expressive abilities.
* One more, the likely situations which I hope for every time I go out, are possibly a chance to chat, even pick up a gorgeous native. So, considering all factors of uncertainty, why not stay prepared with another script set, for any unexpected opportunities that may arise.

1. A good text
So far, I think I have used 5 different texts, and ended up coming back to the first one I started with. As some language experts mentioned, no matter how good instructors are, they are helpless if wrong textbook is used. I have had some great teachers and excellent class sessions for two months prior to coming to Tokyo, but cannot recall a single thing learned in the class. This is mainly due to lack of practice exercises done outside the classroom. When I first started with 皆の日本語初級, I didn’t think it was a useful tool for its emphasis on repetition and memorization. However, although I am a strong advocate of an idea, learning should never equipped with sole memorization, there is no better alternative to build a strong foundation than memorizing fundamental vocabularies. I sometimes think I could have been at my current level three months ago if I kept on with that text, but I can also argue that I probably would had got sick of it. Nevertheless, my point here is use a proper text and strong foundation to a new language is built upon enduring repetitive exercises. When I arrived in Japan, I realized almost all the Japanese language institutions are using the following series; therefore, the following are also my recommendation.

2. Habitual practice: routinely conversation, free writing
I may have wasted some time using a wrong textbook, but I had trained myself right with routinely conversation and free writing practice. Before arriving in Tokyo, I had opportunity to have a conversation in Japanese almost daily, and tried to write in Japanese often as possible. In result, from the first day I set my foot in Japan, I had no fear to start talking to anyone nor had any problem in communication with natives. Well, of course, due to my narrow pool of vocabulary, extent of complexity conversation can be brought to is still very limited. So, the bottomline is that, find your own means to practice what you have learned “outside the classroom.”

3. A sense of urgency, as well as setting deadlines for self
When I started learning last December, it was two weeks before a career forum in Tokyo, and a subsequently scheduled phone interview with BAT Japan. So the motivation was pretty clear and strong. Quickly learn whatever I can, or I get no job. During those periods of preparation, my motivation had really helped accelerate the process. Without it, I wonder how far behind would I be now.

With all of above, I am using the same tactics nowadays to continue push myself. Everyday here is like a practice section. I am almost wrapping up the second book of Minnano series, and moving onto J301 this week. After spending 2-3 hours on textbook exercises, then add new phrases learned into every talk I get involved in. I plan on completing J501 before leaving Japan, that is if I do, but as CFA exam is also coming up, will have to see how it goes. Good thing that I am unemployed at the moment.

So, in two parts, if you are having a problem in which the gadget does not display in some browsers. In my case, my iWeb photo album page was working fine on IE8 and Safari on iPhone, but not on MacOS Safari, Chrome nor Firefox. The fix needed here is to add following to the header section. Refer to the original posting for details on why.

Next, is about where to place your gadget code. This could be especially helpful if you would like to integrate GFC gadget into any page generated by iWeb. For photo album pages in particular, if you want some comments capability for your photos, the only place that nicely displays the comments gadget below your photos is between footer control java script and footer layer, towards the end of the source code. Refer to the image below to figure out the whereabouts in HTML code. If properly put, depending on your gadget configuration, you would get something looking like this below on right.

I believe most iPhone users use iPhoto to synchronize their photos on a mac. Though iPhoto lets users import their photos and prompts the user whether the imported photos will be retained, deletion feature does not seem to be available without actually importing. Here is how:
1. Quit iPhoto, if it was open.
2. Open Image Capture from Applications->Utilities folder
3. A window, such as the one below, will popup. Click on Download Some… buttton.

4. Select photos to be deleted (or multiple select using shift or command button), Edit->Delete

MacでiPhoneのカメラロールの写真を削除するのは:
1. もし実行中なら, iPhotoを終了する.
2. Application->UtilitiesフォルダのImage Captureを実行。
3. 実行時、上のようなパップオプが浮かべば Download some… ボタンを押す。
4. そして消したいの写真を選択後 Edit->Deleteをしてください。

Mac에서 iPhone의 Camera Roll의 사진을 삭제하려면 Application->Utilities 폴더의 Image Capture를 사용하는면 된다. 먼저 iPhoto가 실행중이라면 닫은후에, Image Capture를 실행. 위와 같은 팝업이 뜨면 Download some… 버튼을 누른다. 그리고 지우고 싶은사진을 선택후 Edit->Delete을 누르면 사진이 지워짐.

맥에서 Quicktime으로 안보여지는 동영상 보기:
일단, Mac OSX에서 AVI, MKV등의 동영상을 보려면 VLC가 필요. PC에 곰플레이어가있다면 맥에는 VLC가있다. 아무래도 최강 곰플레이어인만큼 Gretech이 조금만 resource를 투입하면 시장을 늘릴수있을텐데 암턴 내가 알 바는 아니고.

VLC 한글 자막 설정법:
간단히 두가지만 하면된다.
먼저 Preferences/설정[ Cmd/사과 + , ]으로 들어간후에 다음과 “Subtitles & OSD” tab을 선택하면 다음과 같은 그림이 나옵니다.

1. Default Encoding: CP949로 설정
2. Font는 설치되어있는 한글폰트중에 관계없이 선택가능. Font 옆에 Choose button을 눌러서 설치된 폰트중에 선택. (개인적으론 그림에도 나오듯 Gulim이 무난합니다.)

Contrary to my initial idea of this being a geek event, the reality was the complete opposite. So.. the iPad finally came out weeks ago. I had been trying to make a posting on this since last summer; however, not only had I no stuff new to discuss about, but also never I felt any relevance to this site til now. Apple has been always claiming its product revolutionizes the market and society; I should agree on this one. I believe iPad will really bring a change to the way humans interact with technology.

iPad itself is a great product, but this is significant also because it marks the start of an era for Apple dominance. This is far more greater and also more threatening than ever Microsoft was or Google will be, since Apple also has control over hardwares and a power to create a new culture. On top of that, the greatest weapon Apple has is its power to unite the market. It no longer brings unique user experiences because almost everyone uses it. Competitors may enter, end up segmentizing their share, but still, none of them propose their own ideal nor direction. Business economics traditionally had emphasized the importance of product diversification, but customers rather chose standardization. My insight envisions a fear on this factor, perhaps the words of Apocalypse may even come true in the near future, despite the fact that myself is an atheist. Will Apple become a catalyst for the proceedings?

Not necessarily I intend to turn this discussion more bibliographical such as who is the axis of evil, but I am just worried of the way technology itself progresses to the future. Once a company which is capable of directing own path and fast execution, like Apple, is put in charge of technology evolution, there is no going back. I expect a chaos to some degree as well as majority of people confused between a wide gap created, leading to manipulative social outcomes while ethics fade away. Will a third entity emerge and grant humanity a choice within diverse options?

Nevertheless, back to my original intention of announcing my respective decisions in response to the iPad launch, here are some of my thoughts as a webmaster.
* iPad support, new resolutions: 1024 x 768 pixels is once again the golden standard
* As Google did, dropping Internet Explorer 6 support. No more extra configuration.
* No more Adobe Flash: no discussion needed for this.
* Everything in Java Script: seems like the only key to retain freedom of web application.
* File size optimization, such as photo size reduction.

面接の失敗, そして そろそろ孤独
After blowing up the Goldman Sachs interview, took a walk by the Sumida river to clear up my head. More affirmative position needed for myself as well as comprehensive review of my own Interview 101. Luckily, I have the whole golden week to prepare for upcoming interviews as well as the CFA exam. And finally, the spring came and weather is great out here.

Back to a football talk which I have not had for awhile. It looks like Inter Milan managed to surpass FC Barcelona to proceed to the Champions League final in Madrid next month. While FC Barcelona squad is filled with number of gifted players, Inter Milan is nothing fancy in comparison except the fact it has an infamous manager, José Mourinho. What makes him special? Pep Guardiola might have greater characteristics in terms of what it takes for a great coach. However, despite having had a short, unsuccessful career, not only is Mourinho a diligent preparer and perfectionist, but also it came to me that his success is made possible by his quick awareness of surroundings and respective appreciation. At the time of Motta’s red card, he could have argued like many other managers, but instead he maintained his temper, followed with a more realistic decision. He made a quick decision, prioritized, let go anything unnecessary, then put it to a prompt action. Along with other showmanship he had displayed for mindset of players, the precise, result-oriented actions he takes are truly a determined dedication I can feel. After all, a team management is very like a business management or more broadly, living a life. So, which is more applicable to a life satisfaction, Arsène Wenger‘s or Mourinho’s?

水曜日、そして明日は昭和日です。それから、今夜はゴルデンウェクの始めるのです。日本人は明日から来週水曜日まで、ふつ来週末までに休みますね。それ中に僕は東京市内に何をしますかな。。。とにかく、今日午前にはここに生活計画が誓うなるので、もっとも長いの滞留するように、桜ハウスオフィスへ行っていました。あとでは近いのあるの東郷青児美術館に入ってMaurice Utrilloのいろいろな絵とVincent Van Goghの有名のひまわりを感想しました。それに、ここの生活、延長準備はほとんど終わりました。最初の面接はこの金曜日午後でGoldman Sachsですね。私自身に頑張ろ〜

Not to get into painting details, my occasional visit to galleries indeed leaves me lost in greater confusion of where my career path. Arts have always been a factor driving me away from the reality; however, where does the true reality lie? Most people pursue their career in order to earn more money, but money is also merely conceptualization of intangible and theoretical value. Paul Gauguin switched to art after spending years as a sailor and stockbroker, while Paul Cézanne started his career at age of 33, leaving the law school, only to get repeatedly rejected by the salons. So the question is when can I? Clearly, in order to pursue art, one needs both time and money. One needs to devote time to earn money, enough so that time can be saved for own utilization. But, as with the monetary value, time also depreciates in time, for should no time be given up in return for greater monetary amount. Perhaps, a start of financial career will bring nothing more than a single shiny line in CV at the expense of envision.

今度は反対の地域内の原宿です。この戸師も毎番東京来て時、行くところ中の一です。ここにはファシャンがとっても面白くて見てことしかも楽しいです。今日は天気も晴れているから週末の表参道に歩くようにパフェクット日でした。あとで、代々木公園へ行って、明治神宮に入って本当に楽な休みました。もし僕がここに仕事を持って時には、是非青山にアパトを探すと考えるします。東京とロンドン、どちらがいいかな〜

Today is Harajuku, the town which seems like Gwen Stefani’s favourite, since the place is mentioned within her lyrics quite often, and she even released a perfume brand under its name. Anyways, no doubt, Harajuku is definitely a place of fashion center in Tokyo. From luxury brands of high ends of Omotesando to various costume plays at the other end, Yoyogi Park. Situated right in the middle ground between Shibuya, Shinjuku and Roppongi, it is probably the ideal place to live if location comes to priority. Well, that is if I end up staying~

今日は別に計画がなくて時間もないし、僕の戸師、銀座へ行きました。何か僕が一番好きな町中一つだけど、人も多いし、物価も高いし、全然違いますよ。夜に行ったことがないで、分からないでしたけど、夜ご飯を食べるように行くはだめですよ。でも、それは自分の責任から、大丈夫大丈夫。あとで、エプルストアへ入ってMagir Mouseを買いました。。それだけ。エニウェイ。。久しぶりに銀座へ行ったから気分はよかったけど、面白いことがもうないで残念でした。最近、もう一度リクルチングを始めてから東京で生活がもっとも長いなくって思うけど、次の住むどころは絶対に西地域に探すほうがいいだ考える。今夜はここまで以上〜

실은 지난 며칠간 블로그를 미뤄왔던 관계로 그동안 미루었던 걸 한꺼번에 몰아서 쓰고있다. 마지막은 중요하다고지만 정말 귀찮은관계로 달랑 링크만 올릴려고함..-_-; 마치 예전 초딩시절에 방학일기를 몰아서 쓰던시절과 똑같은 상황이. 더군다나 지금은 스스로 하고있다니. 어제는 눈이 왔다는 소식을 듣고 하코네로 달려갔고 오늘은 전통적행사가 있다고 해서 이틀연속으로 먼길에 올랐는데 음 머랄까..타이밍은 잘 맞췄지만 여행에 신경쓰다보니 일이 밀려가고있다. 아무리 멀티태스킹에 능하다 자부하며살고있지마능 여러가지를 하루에 다하긴 역시나 힘든것같다. 일단은 일찍 일어나는것부터..-_-; 그래도 화사한 주말 볼거 할거 많이했고, 화요일부터 비가다시온다니깐 내일 하루만 더 놀러나가고 화욜부턴 人形町에서 열공모드 들어가야짓. 以上〜

아무리 여행이라기보단 휴가같은 한달간의 시간속에 즉흥적으로 시내 여기저기로 떠나긴하지만 이번엔 계획없이 먼길을 삽질만 퍼다올뻔했다. 역시나 그날그날에 대한 계획없이는 시간낭비가 크다는 생각이 든다. 2시간정도 거리에 하코네, 그리고 거기서 산위로 올라가는 모토하코네까지 느리게 가는 교통편만 골라서탔더니 얼어죽을추위에 호수한번보러 한 4시간정도 걸린것같다. 특히나 산길오를때는 기차가 아무리 horsepower가 좋아도 버스보다 빠를순 없다는것도 터득했고, 아무턴 오랜만에 온천을 해서 몸이 개운하다. 크으~ 근데 왜 잠은 안오는거지 ㅠㅠ

甘酒横町 Amazake-Yokocho 주요가게들이 쭉 늘어서있는 골목

東京生活15日目　人形町 Ningyocho 닌교쵸

벌써 여기에 온지도 2주라는 시간이 지났고, 최근 며칠간 매일같이 비가오는바람에 홈타운 人形町에서 많은 시간을 보낸것같다. 비오는날 돌아다니는건 정말 짜증난다. 요즘 날씨도 춥고..ㅠ 처음에는 실은 銀座에서 많은 시간을 보낼거라 예상하고 근처로 잡을려고 하다가 八丁堀에 건물이 좀 맘에 안들어서 지금사는곳을 골랐지만 전혀 예상치못했다. 이렇게 동네가 맘에들줄은. 정말 동경내에 가장 동경다운 동네이다. 세계전쟁때 유일하게 파괴안당한 동네라나.. 아무턴 그래서인지 정말로 역사깊은 가게들이 많다. 銀座보다 더 오래된 店가 많고 과거에는 丸の内보다 더 중심상업구역이였다고한다. 어쨌턴 이런건 나한텐 관심없는 이야기고 좋은점은 맛집이 많고 관광객이 별로 없으며 먼가 동네의 색깔이 강하다. 이동네에서 식사를 10번넘게했음에도 불구하고 아직 못가본 맛집도 수두룩하고 간식거리도 매우풍부~ 추후에 동경에 자리를 잡게되면 그때도 여기서 살수 있기를 빈다.

오늘도 비가 오는관계로 人形町에서 죽치다가 저녁에는 丸の内서 오랜만에 연락된 대학동창 규리와 식사를~ 근사한 저녁식사도 얻어먹고 ありがとう。아무런 연락처 없이 도착해 시작한 동경생활이지만 점점 갈수록 아는사람도 많아져가고 아무턴 좋은 현상이다.

清澄庭園

新橋를 갈 계획으로 집에서 나왔다가 大江戸線(오에도선)으로 직통으로 가기위해 키요스미방향으로 걷다가 지금까지 본곳중에 最高인 清澄庭園(키요스미 정원) 발견. 東京内에는 有名한 公園은 수두없이 많지만 그 어디보다도 아름다운 庭園이였다. 역시나 정말 좋은곳은 観光객의 발이 닿지않는다는 나의 旅行방침은 여기서도 변함없다. 어떤写真을 올려야될까 고민하다가 gallery로 올리면 좋을텐데 생각을하다가… 까먹고 안가지고온 iWeb을 torrent로 다시 받아서 site content를 복구시켰다. 아무래도 그동안 미루고있었던 写真들도 마저같이 올려야겠다. 清澄写真들은 오른쪽의 사진을 클릭하여 사진집을 볼수 수 있습니다. 정원에서 휴식을 취한후에는 東京都現代美術館(The National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo)에 가서 Hussein Chalayan의 fashion exhibition을 감상했다. 그의 작품을 보면서 전에 Leonardo da Vinci의 작품에서도 느겼듯이 医学에 대한 지식의 중요성, 그리고 떠나기 싫을정도로 現在의 東京生活이 맘에들지만 London에 가기에 정절한 timing이라는걸 느꼈다고나… 아무래도 美術의 중심은 거기다보니. 머 어쨌거나, 美術館 관람은 언제나 흥미있고 다음의 문구가 크게 와닿았던 작품전. “Everything we create is externalization of our body.”

今日は先週に新丸ビルのパティで合うと人、アレシスとミツラと夜ご飯を食べて、代官山へ行きました。ひさしぶりにクラブへ行ってからどってもおもしろいの週末でした。

Met up with Alexis and Mitra, whom I met at the business party last week. After having dinner at 六本木, once again at 平田牧場, went up to the Moritower for the nightview of Tokyo. Thanks to Alexis’ last minute info, headed over to Daikanyama XEX for some great party following a fashion show. Despite missing the show, without realizing went through the back door, thereby entering for free. Anyways, having met many good people this early period of stay, life in Tokyo has been pleasant so far. スタジオジブリの宮崎駿の漫画を見たことがありますか。それには吉祥寺がおもしろいで思いますけど。吉祥寺はスタジオジブリもあるいし、きれいな井の頭公園もあるんでから、絶対に行くのどころです。久しぶりに西側地域へ行って和解の人が多くで本当に楽しいったんです。明日も夜には六本木へ行く予定ですが、来週から西側地域によく行くつもりです。

지브리스튜디오, 미야자키 하야오의 작품을 본적이 있습니까? 그렇다면 오늘의 목적지 키치죠지에 있는 지브리박물관은 가볼만한 곳이라고나. 볼거리는 그다지많지는 않다만 거기서만 볼수있는 short film과(Pixar사에서 영화상영전 보여주는 것과 비슷한 의도) 독자적인 만화영화 제작과정은 보여주는 면에서 가볼만하다고 생각함. 게다가 그 옆에있는 이노카시라공원까지 신주쿠에서 20분정도 거리의 키치죠우지는 반나절을 내서 가볼만한곳이라고나… 뭐 딴건 모르겠고 오랜만에 동경의 서부지역을 갔더니 다양한 스타일과 젊은혈기에 몸이 타오름을 느꼈다. 특히, 동경의 교복들은 스타일이 정말 끝내준다. 오는길에는 시모키타자와에 들려 저녁을 먹었는데 금요일 퇴근시간의 시부야로 가는 전차분의기는 정말 원정가는 필의 대단한 옷차림들과, 전차에진동하는 향기와.. 그나저나 한국여자들이 시부야애들 반만큼만 화장해도 다이뻐보일것같다-_-; 오늘은 피곤해서그런지 자꾸 이야기가 샌다. 내일 간만에 놀러나가는날인데 언넝 자야지. 그럼 이만~

For some reason, my Japanese 書くもの often end up sounding stupid, Korean writing end up dirty, and reflection written in English always seem to get too serious and verbose. Anyway, things I have done today… hmm today I felt like getting out of the city, so went westwards, visited two well-known towns near Tokyo, in fact one of them is in Tokyo district. Kichijouji, I would recommend, for anyone looking for a walk-around day at a quiet park or if you are a Ghibli fan. Shimokitazawa, since I am no longer a big fan of shopping for extraordinary items, did not seem any different from in-city districts such as Daikanyama or Harajuku. Next time I go out of city, I plan on going somewhere farther, as far as Hakone or Nikko to have a more realistic feeling of being outside the city.

今日は新丸の内ビルでビズネスパーティがあるので丸の内へ行きました。全世界からいろいろの人が多くでその人に会いました。私は今無職のにそこでおもしろい仕事をするの人も合うし、自分の問題も答え場を探していました。それから、このパーティはいろいろの意味があるの夜でした。そして、今日合うの良い友達い多いからうれしいです。
오늘은 신마루빌에서 비즈니스파티가있어서 밤에 마루노우치를 갔습니다. 어떻게보면 이 이벤트를 위해 파티복장도 챙겨가고 명함도 따로찍어간것이였는데 신경쓴 보람이 있었다는 생각이 들정도로 좋은사람들도 많이만나고 도움되는 advice도 많이 얻었고 굉장히 보람있는 밤이였다는 생각이듭니다. 가기전에 또한번 이런기회가 있을지는 모르겠지만 여기있는동안 또 연락하고 만날수있는 사람들을 만났기에 하룻밤안에 많은자산을 얻은기분이듭니다. 도서관과 수영장에서도 주변사람들을 점점 알아가기 시작하고있고 짧은기간이지만 떠날즈음되면 많이아쉽겠다는 생각이 벌서부터 듭니다.
I just realized that I have not written a blog post in English for a long time. As for tonight, I also felt like I have not spoken in English for quite long, why not express some of my thoughts in English as well. One of the biggest pleasure one might get from traveling around is having an interaction with variety of viewpoints and perspectives. Tonight was especial kind of those moments, in which I got to experience vast amount of variety and talents at a single spot in short time. At this moment, I keep on telling myself this is vacation which I should completely diverge myself from both professional and social complexity that is presented to a single human being. However, I also know that would not happen until the day I “retire” from this huge global society I belong to. What am I doing and what am I searching for in this random city are probably the questions that I won’t be able to answer until I leave. But tonight, I came to a realization that this interim period I have granted myself came with a reason other than taking a rest until my retirement fund depletes. While taking weeks off from work, my vision or creative thinking skill must have broadened, and in order not to go back into the same workaholic cycle, I should utilize this time to build up a basis for a longer-term pursue-ables, exempli gratia a business plan. Clearly, Japanese market is one that I won’t choose to be ignorant of, for the time I spend here will be more meaningful if I spend each of the remaining days doing my own research.
